Material & Engineering Overview

While monolithic graphite is brittle under tensile or impact loading, Carbon-Carbon (C/C or CFC) composite reinforces a pyrolytic/pitch carbon matrix with woven PAN carbon fiber plies—achieving 3–5× higher flexural and tensile strength (150–300 MPa) at half the thickness and weight of steel or molybdenum.

Unlike metals that soften above 1,200 °C, C/C composite actually increases in strength up to 2,200 °C, making it the premier material for thin vacuum-furnace charging trays, hot-zone protective liners, SPS/hot-press outer hoop sleeves, and high-torque M6–M24 bolts and nuts.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Lot COA (bulk density, flexural strength, ash content) and dimensional verification.

Primary Research & Industrial Applications

  • Vacuum brazing and heat-treating furnace charging grids, work baskets, and hearth rails
  • Thin protective inner hot-zone shield liners over rigid graphite felt (TB-GR-FLT)
  • High-tensile outer reinforcement hoop sleeves for graphite hot-pressing and SPS dies
  • M6 to M24 C/C threaded studs, hex bolts, nuts, and washers

Technical & Procurement FAQ

Why replace molybdenum or steel furnace trays with C/C composite grids?
C/C grids weigh 75% less than metal trays, never warp or sag during oil/gas quenching, and absorb far less thermal energy—cutting furnace cycle times and power consumption.
Do C/C composite bolts seize or weld at 2,000 °C?
No. Unlike metallic fasteners that diffusion-bond together, C/C bolts and nuts have natural lubricity and can be unscrewed cleanly after 2,000 °C runs.
Can C/C plates be coated with pyrolytic carbon or SiC?
Yes. Surface sealing with CVD pyrolytic carbon or SiC prevents fiber shedding in clean semiconductor furnaces.
