Material & Engineering Overview

Alumina ceramic plates span two specialized manufacturing routes: thin tape-cast substrates (0.25–2.0 mm in 96% thick-film or 99.6% thin-film polished grades) for power electronics, hybrid microcircuits, and PVD deposition carriers; and thick pressed/sintered plates (3–40 mm) diamond-blanchard ground flat for kiln setters, vacuum chucks, HV insulation barriers, and abrasive wear liners.

CO2/fiber laser cutting, laser via drilling, ultrasonic milling, and diamond lapping allow rapid turnaround on custom geometries without hard tooling.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Lot COA, thickness/flatness/camber & surface roughness verification.

Primary Research & Industrial Applications

  • Thin-film PVD/sputtering substrates and thick-film hybrid power electronics
  • Flat high-temperature sintering setter plates and furnace hearth tiles
  • Thermally conductive, electrically isolating heat spreaders (~25–30 W/m·K)
  • Precision semiconductor chuck plates and wear pads

What to Specify in Your Quote Request

Specify length × width × thickness, alumina grade (96% electronic, 99.5% structural/setter, or 99.6% thin-film), surface finish (as-fired, ground, or polished one/both sides), flatness requirement, and DXF/PDF drawing for holes or slots.

Include target quantity, destination country/postal code for express air freight calculation, and any special cleanroom bagging or certification requests.

Technical & Procurement FAQ

What is the difference between 96% and 99.6% electronic alumina substrates?
96% alumina has controlled glassy grain-boundary phases ideal for thick-film screen-printed pastes and laser scribing, whereas 99.6% alumina uses sub-micron grain powder for ultra-smooth Ra <0.025–0.05 µm surfaces needed in thin-film PVD photolithography.
Can thick alumina setter plates be used repeatedly at 1,650 °C?
Yes, provided thermal gradients are controlled and spacers/setters are supported evenly on kiln furniture; porous or cordierite/mullite setters may also be quoted where faster thermal cycling below 1,350 °C is prioritized.
What file formats do you accept for laser-cut or CNC-ground plate features?
Reference DXF, STEP, or dimensioned PDF drawings in the RFQ specifications field; we will request the drawing file directly by reply email during technical review.
