Material & Engineering Overview

Equipment builders in PVD/CVD semiconductor tools, electron-beam welders, analytical mass spectrometers, and industrial induction heaters rely on custom ceramic insulators where polymers melt, outgas, or arc. By combining CNC green-body machining before sintering with post-fire diamond grinding, complex flanged bushings, stepped collars, threaded standoffs, and slotted heater cores can be produced in small prototype lots without expensive dry-press steel tooling.

Materials include 95%–99.8% alumina, yttria-stabilized zirconia, steatite, and thermal-shock-tolerant cordierite/mullite.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Material COA and full critical-to-quality (CTQ) dimensional inspection report against customer drawing.

Primary Research & Industrial Applications

  • PVD magnetron cathode dark-space shields and HV isolation bushings
  • UHV/XHV electrical and RF feedthrough insulator sleeves
  • Induction coil supports, plasma torch nozzles, and weld locating pins
  • Wire-wound vacuum furnace heating element bobbins and spacers

Technical & Procurement FAQ

Do I have to pay a pressing-mold tooling charge for 5 or 10 prototype ceramic insulators?
No—for small prototype and R&D quantities, parts are CNC green-machined from cold-isostatically pressed (CIP) billets and diamond-ground after firing, avoiding pressing-die charges.
Which ceramic material is best if my insulator experiences rapid thermal shock?
Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), silicon nitride (Si3N4), fused quartz, or cordierite tolerate rapid temperature swings far better than dense high-purity alumina.
Can parts be ultrasonically cleaned and cleanroom double-bagged for vacuum assembly?
Yes—specify DI-water/solvent ultrasonic cleaning and Class-clean double poly bagging in your RFQ if parts will enter HV/UHV chambers.
