Material & Engineering Overview

Recrystallized high-purity alumina (Al2O3) furnace tubes provide gas-tight atmosphere containment, high electrical resistivity, and chemical inertness under oxidizing, inert, vacuum, and dry reducing environments up to 1,750 °C. Slip-cast or isostatically pressed and sintered to near-zero open porosity, 99.5%–99.8% grades minimize alkali and silica volatilization during semiconductor annealing, powder calcination, and crystal growth.

Each lot is sourced to dimensional specification—including open-both-ends (OBE), closed-one-end (COE), ground end faces for O-ring vacuum flanges, and custom wall thicknesses—and ships with the manufacturer batch Certificate of Analysis (chemical assay and bulk density) plus pre-shipment dimensional verification.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Lot COA (Al2O3 %, trace oxides Fe2O3/SiO2/Na2O, bulk density), dimensional check sheet, and non-hazardous ceramic article safety statement.

Technical & Procurement FAQ

What heating and cooling ramp rate is recommended for 99.8% alumina furnace tubes?
High-purity dense alumina is sensitive to thermal shock; typical laboratory furnace practice limits heating and cooling rates to 150–300 °C per hour (2.5–5 °C/min) and uses refractory radiation shields inside the hot-zone ends to reduce axial thermal gradients.
Can ends be precision OD-ground for KF/ISO vacuum compression fittings?
Yes. Standard sintered tubes have ±1.5–2% as-fired OD tolerance, while diamond centerless-ground ends achieve ±0.05 to ±0.10 mm OD tolerance for reliable Viton or silicone O-ring vacuum sealing.
What documentation accompanies alumina tube shipments?
Shipments include the producing mill's batch Certificate of Analysis reporting Al2O3 content, trace oxide impurities, and sintered density alongside key dimensional checks (OD, ID, length, camber).
