Material & Engineering Overview

Sintered 99.5% and 99.8% alumina combustion boats are contoured specifically for horizontal tube furnaces, CVD deposition zones, and elemental combustion analyzers. Smooth unglazed interiors with minimal surface roughness prevent powder sticking during thermal decomposition, solid-state sintering, metal oxide reduction, and sulfur/carbon analysis.

Offered with pull-holes/handles for push-rod retrieval, semicircular or flat bottoms, and optional sliding covers to reduce vapor loss in flowing carrier gas.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Lot COA (chemical assay & sintered density) and pack count inspection.

Primary Research & Industrial Applications

  • Tube-furnace powder synthesis, annealing, and CVD precursor evaporation
  • Carbon/sulfur combustion analysis and coal/metallurgical ashing
  • Thin-film sulfurization/selenization (MoS2, WS2) precursor boats
  • Catalyst testing and high-temperature gravimetric thermal treatments

What to Specify in Your Quote Request

Specify boat overall length × top width × height, wall thickness, alumina purity, pull-handle/hole style, lid requirement, and the inside diameter (ID) of your furnace tube so radial clearance can be verified.

Include target quantity, destination country/postal code for express air freight calculation, and any special cleanroom bagging or certification requests.

Technical & Procurement FAQ

What clearance should I leave between an alumina boat and my furnace tube ID?
Allow at least 4–8 mm total diametral clearance relative to the furnace tube's minimum inside diameter (accounting for tube camber) so the boat slides freely without scraping the tube wall.
Are these boats glazed or unglazed?
High-temperature 99.5%–99.8% alumina boats are unglazed; glazes soften around 1,000–1,150 °C and would fuse the boat directly to the furnace tube.
What pack sizes are typical for laboratory combustion boats?
Standard sizes are commonly quoted in packs of 5, 10, 25, or 100 pieces, providing substantial unit-cost savings on recurring R&D consumables.
