Material & Engineering Overview

Calendared from thermally exfoliated natural flake graphite without any organic binders, resins, or fillers, flexible graphite foil is compressible, resilient, chemically inert, and thermally stable from −240 °C to +3,000 °C in vacuum or inert gas.

In materials research, 0.13–0.25 mm flexible graphite paper is universally wrapped around the inner bore and punch faces of Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS / FAST) and hot-press graphite dies (TB-GR-MLD) to ensure uniform electrical contact, prevent powder reaction with the die wall, and allow effortless sample ejection.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Lot COA (carbon %, ash %, leachable sulfur/chloride ppm, thickness, and density).

Primary Research & Industrial Applications

  • Sacrificial release liner and electrical contact paper inside SPS and hot-press graphite dies
  • High-temperature vacuum furnace flange gaskets and sight-glass seals
  • Anisotropic lateral heat-spreading sheets (in-plane κ = 150–400 W/m·K) beneath electronics and crucibles
  • Corrosive chemical flange gaskets and fuel-cell bipolar plate seals

What to Specify in Your Quote Request

Specify foil thickness (e.g., 0.13 mm or 0.25 mm for SPS liners; 1.0–2.0 mm for gaskets), purity tier, roll/sheet dimensions or pre-cut disc/sleeve sizes, and quantity.

Include target quantity, destination country/postal code for express air freight calculation, and any special cleanroom bagging or certification requests.

Technical & Procurement FAQ

What thickness of flexible graphite foil is standard for lining SPS dies?
0.13 mm (0.005") or 0.20–0.25 mm (0.008"–0.010") is standard for wrapping the inner bore and placing as discs between the powder and punches.
What if my sample reacts with carbon during SPS sintering?
Coat the graphite foil with a thin hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) spray or place a thin tantalum (TB-TA-SH) or molybdenum (TB-MO-SH) barrier foil disc between the sample and the graphite paper.
Can you supply pre-cut discs and cylinder wraps matched to our SPS die ID?
Yes. Order bulk rolls/sheets or precision die-cut discs and bore wraps sized for Ø 10, 12.7, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 mm SPS dies.
