Material & Engineering Overview

Machined from dense, fine-grain isostatic graphite (1.82–1.88 g/cm³) with zero clay or silica binders, our high-purity graphite crucibles and continuous casting dies are non-wetting toward molten gold, silver, copper, aluminum, brass, tin, and glass/fluoride melts.

High thermal conductivity (110–140 W/m·K) and natural RF/MF electromagnetic coupling allow direct induction heating or rapid resistance heating up to 2,500 °C in vacuum or inert gas.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Lot COA (bulk density, ash ppm content, Shore hardness) and dimensional inspection.

Primary Research & Industrial Applications

  • Vacuum and induction melting of 999.9 gold, silver, platinum-group alloys, and OFHC copper
  • Horizontal and vertical upward continuous casting dies for copper rod, strip, and silver wire
  • Insert liners inside alumina or quartz induction coils and LECO oxygen/nitrogen analysis crucibles
  • Directional solidification and Bridgman crystal growth of fluorides and chalcogenides

Technical & Procurement FAQ

Which metals should NOT be melted directly in bare graphite crucibles?
Strong carbide-forming metals (Ti, Zr, Cr, Ni, Fe, Si, Pt at very high temp) dissolve carbon; for those, use our Al2O3 (TB-AL2O3-CR), ZrO2 (TB-ZRO2-CR), MgO (TB-MGO-CR), or BN (TB-HBN-MC) crucibles.
How can I extend the life of a graphite crucible used in air?
Apply a boron nitride or anti-oxidation glaze and minimize hold time between 500–900 °C, or purge the crucible mouth with argon/nitrogen cover gas.
Can you machine multi-cavity precious metal ingot molds and stopper rods?
Yes. Both cylindrical/conical crucibles and multi-cavity bar/coin molds are CNC-machined to your exact dimensions.
