Material & Engineering Overview

Stock-shape and surface-ground graphite plates, blocks, and round bars serve both in-house R&D machine shops and direct industrial processes—ranging from flat vacuum-sintering setter plates for hardmetals and ceramics to sinker EDM electrode blanks, hot-glass take-out pads, and CNC-grooved fuel-cell/redox-flow-battery bipolar plates.

Available in economical molded fine-grain grades, isotropic CIP high-density grades (1.82–1.90 g/cm³), and gas-impermeable phenolic/furan resin-impregnated plates for electrochemical cells below 180 °C.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Grade COA (density, resistivity, flexural strength, ash) and cut/ground dimensional verification.

Primary Research & Industrial Applications

  • Vacuum furnace sintering trays and cemented-carbide / MIM setter plates
  • Precision sinker EDM electrode blanks and cleanroom machining stock
  • PEM fuel cell and vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) bipolar flow-field plates
  • Glass-blowing marvers, run-out tables, and high-temperature dry lubrication pads

What to Specify in Your Quote Request

Specify length × width × thickness (or rod diameter × length), surface finish (saw-cut blank with machining allowance vs. 6-side precision ground), isostatic vs. molded vs. resin-impregnated grade, and quantity.

Include target quantity, destination country/postal code for express air freight calculation, and any special cleanroom bagging or certification requests.

Technical & Procurement FAQ

Are standard sintered graphite plates gas-tight for electrochemical flow cells?
Standard synthetic graphite has ~8–13% open micro-porosity; for leak-tight fuel-cell or redox-flow bipolar plates below 180 °C, specify resin-impregnated impermeable graphite or glassy (vitreous) carbon plates.
What is the advantage of isostatic (CIP) graphite over extruded or vibration-molded graphite?
Isostatic graphite has uniform 5–15 µm grain structure with identical mechanical, electrical, and thermal expansion properties in all three axes (isotropic), holding crisp edges and tight tolerances without directional warping.
Can thin 1 mm to 3 mm precision-ground graphite sheets be shipped safely without snapping?
Yes—thin ground graphite sheets are sandwiched between rigid stiffener boards and vacuum-sealed inside shock-absorbing foam cartons.
