Material & Engineering Overview

Sintered with narrowly graded pore-forming templates and diamond surface-ground to micron-level flatness, our microporous alumina (Al2O3) and silicon carbide (SiC) plates distribute vacuum hold-down force or pressurized air films uniformly across their entire surface without localized dimple distortion.

Available as standalone porous discs/blocks or hermetically co-fired/bonded into a dense ceramic housing with vacuum ports for 2-inch through 12-inch (300 mm) wafer dicing, thinning, inspection, and lithography stages.

Standard Shipment Documentation: Manufacturer Lot COA (mean pore size, open porosity %, flatness inspection report).

Primary Research & Industrial Applications

  • Semiconductor wafer vacuum hold-down chucks for thinned Si, SiC, GaN, and sapphire wafers
  • Frictionless aerostatic porous ceramic air-bearing pads and linear stages
  • High-temperature molten salt, hot gas, and corrosive solvent filtration membranes
  • Uniform fluidization spargers and capillary wicking plates

Technical & Procurement FAQ

Why use a microporous ceramic vacuum chuck instead of a grooved metal chuck?
Grooved chucks leave localized stress rings that crack or warp ultra-thin (<100 µm) Si, SiC, or sapphire wafers; microporous ceramic supports 100% of the wafer area evenly.
What pore size is best for wafer vacuum chucks?
Fine 3–15 µm pore grades provide high capillary pressure drop, preventing vacuum loss even if a smaller wafer only partially covers the chuck.
How do you clean clogged pores in a porous ceramic plate?
Ultrasonic cleaning in acetone/IPA followed by reverse back-flushing with clean dry nitrogen or baking at 400–600 °C restores full permeability.
